The Sacrifice of Isaac

William Blake   -
Abraham prepares to sacrifice Isaac

Abraham, who is portrayed as a sturdy old man, kneels beside the altar and holds Isaac. Isaac is portrayed as a naked, frightened child, whose hands are tied in front of him. Abraham holds a knife beside his son`s foot and looks up to the sky, as if he was waiting for a last moment’s reprieve.
